About The Flour Pot Bakery
There are several branches of the Flour Pot Bakery scattered around Hove but the one that I visited sits on a corner of Portland Road. It’s a good spot for a coffee, cake or a loaf but somewhere that I’ve not visited since moving closer to Brighton. Recently, I’ve been reminded of my previous visits when passing by on driving lessons. I’m yet to discover if distraction by pastry is a minor or major fault.
Did the sausage roll look appetising? Was it lovingly displayed in the shop window?
The sausage rolls were stacked vertically. I’d never seen that before and it caught my eye. Two varieties were on offer and I went for the pork, cheddar and jalapeño.
How much did you pay for it? Was it good value for money?
£2.90 for takeaway and £3.50 to eat in. I opted for the snatch and grab and ate it back at home.
Was it carefully wrapped? Did it arrive home intact?
Served in a brown paper bag with minimal grease transfer.
Did it have a satisfying weight? Was it reassuringly dense?
Was it warm and ready to eat or cold on arrival?
Pretty chilly, no offer to heat.
Was it buttery and flaky? Did it hold together?
Not the best pastry but it had cheese on top.
7. Quality of meat or filling
Was the filling substantial or did you mainly chew air?
The meat was dense and retained a good level of moisture.
Was the sausage roll delicious and well-seasoned?
Cheddar, pork and jalapeño. Wow!
Were you left satisfied or wanting more?
The sausage roll needed heating but still gave a high degree of satisfaction.
10. Bonus Points
Did anything warrant bonus points? Eg. a little pot of mustard or friendly service from the staff?
Quick, efficient service. They are always friendly too.
